RPS Sponsored International Conference (Helen Liapis) Award |
Overview The award was established by Dr. Patrik Walker in Honor of Dr. Helen Liapis for her contributions to renal pathology. Dr. Patrick Walker donated the seed money on behalf of the Arkana Labs, at the time of Dr. Liapis’ retirement in 2016. RPS members are encouraged to contribute towards this award. The award was established to support attendance of trainee to RPS sponsored or endorsed international courses and meetings in any country, or to supplement the educational material assembly or associated infrastructure (i.e. scanning of glass slides, servers, microscope/computer rooms, etc.) for such meetings. Each award will be in the amount of $500. Up to $1,000 annually can be awarded in a year. If there are no adequate candidates or opportunities, only one or no award will be granted in a given year. Under special circumstances, and with the BOD majority vote, a single $1000 award could be granted. Nomination Procedure Announcement of this award can be sent to the RPS membership any time during a given year by the Chair of the Nomination & Award committee.
